Help create a safe, welcoming, and dignified environment for our guests as they access essential services, meet with housing counselors, and decompress. As a Facility Readiness & Guest Support Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operations running smoothly and supporting guests on their path to stability.

Shift Focus Areas:

Kitchen Oversight: Support meal service and maintain a clean, organized kitchen.

Laundry Assistance: Help guests with laundry pick-up and drop-off.

Donations Management: Receive, organize, and inventory donations; complete donor receipts.

Facility Readiness: Prepare the building for drop-in (9 a.m.–12 p.m.) and shelter services (evening).

Guest Support: Assist with lockers, bunk readiness, and general customer service.

Cleaning & Organization: Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the facility and grounds.

Note: The Drop-In Center is closed on holidays.

Support Homeward Point by preparing the facility for Day Services and evening Shelter operations. Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming space for guests.

Duties may include:

Cleaning bunkrooms, bathrooms, common areas, and grounds

Assisting with laundry and general facility upkeep

Organizing shared spaces

This quiet, independent shift is a great way to start your volunteer journey. Please note: The Drop-In Center is closed on holidays.

This volunteer shift is a great opportunity for anyone looking into doing a couple of hours of volunteering early in the morning before work or school.

Between 7am and 8am the facility will get especially busy, as folks prepare to head out for their days. You will likely find yourself spending a lot of time opening lockers and distributing hygiene products and food as people go about their morning routines.

Duties that might be expected from this role include:

Help ensure a safe, welcoming environment for guests during evening hours. Duties may include:

Assisting guests with lockers and bunks

Handling laundry and distributing hygiene items

Supporting operations wherever needed

Be a reassuring presence and help guests feel cared for as they settle in for the night.

During this shift, the facility will (hopefully) be fairly quiet by the time you get in. Guests will have followed their night routines and found their way to bed, for the most part, and this provides critical downtime to complete tasks that we do not have the time to do during opening and closing operations. Cleaning and organizing things is a big part of this shift, and gives the opportunity to quietly get stuff done that is often pushed aside during our busier hours.

Main Entrance Volunteer
Welcome guests to Homeward Point and help create a safe, friendly, and supportive environment. Duties may include:

Greeting and checking in guests as they arrive

Assisting with locker and storage access

Managing the guest laundry and/or downstairs shower signup sheet

Be a warm and reassuring presence as guests begin their evening with us.
